East Village at Knutsford

DevelopmentWA

As a demonstration project, East Village at Knutsford will be a living laboratory, delivering a connected community of 36 energy efficient homes featuring a micro grid supply network for water and power derived from 100% renewable sources. A range of water initiatives have been designed to bring Waterwise living to life at the estate. Other features will include electric vehicle fast charging, solar panels and battery storage, share electric vehicle scheme, quality landscaped private and public spaces. Residents will be supported to embrace One Planet Living, a global movement to meet the challenges of resource competition and climate change. It is based on the idea that to live sustainably we need to live within the limits of one planet’s natural resources. There are 10 One Planet Principles that East Village is responding to, which include: a green, heat resilient landscape of native plants and productive species available to residents to harvest, stormwater managed through the landscape design, high levels of rainwater use and sustainably sourced irrigation water lead to a 80% reduction in mains water consumption, with water systems powered by renewable energy, and residents will have access to sustainable food production in both the public and private realms, including managing organic waste through the gardens.
