Cool It Birchip

Birchip Community Forum , Central Victorian Greenhouse Alliance (CVGA)

The project aimed to cool Birchip by delivering increased levels of shade provided by trees, mitigating the effect of heat extremes on residents and visitors including vulnerable people. So far, in small Mallee town of Birchip, they’ve planted over 170 trees – to ramp up the shade and cool down the streets in readiness for a warmer, drier climate ahead. This project was followed by Cool It Phase 2 where the program was expanded
